Anathema Blog app privacy policy
Anathema Blog app for Android, package com.anathemastudio.blog · Last updated: 15 October 2026
Contents
1. Summary
- The app is for reading the public articles of the anathema-studio.com blog: no account, no login, no request for your name, e-mail or any other personal data.
- No tracking: no analytics, no advertising, no profiling.
- Your chosen language, the offline copy of the articles and your saved articles stay on your phone.
- To download articles and images the app connects to our services: like any request on the internet, this discloses the phone's IP address, which may appear in technical logs (section 4).
- The only permission the app asks for is internet access.
2. Data controller
The data controller is Andrea Salaris, sole proprietorship trading as "Anathema Studio", Via A. De Gasperi 43, 07041 Alghero (SS), Italy, VAT no. IT03054290907, e-mail info@anathema-studio.com. We have not appointed a data protection officer (it is not mandatory for our activity): for any question, write to the address above.
This policy applies to the Anathema Blog app downloaded from Google Play. The anathema-studio.com website, which the app opens when you tap "Open on the site", "Contact" or other links, is covered by the site's privacy policy.
3. Data stored on your phone
The app stores in its own storage on the device, without sending it to us:
- the language you chose (Italian or English);
- the latest list of articles downloaded, to show it right away at start-up and when offline;
- your saved articles, with the date you saved them;
- the publication date of the newest article you have seen, to mark the ones published after it as "New".
You can delete the copy of the articles from Studio → Clear article cache, remove an article from your saved ones by tapping the bookmark again, or delete everything from the Android settings (Apps → Anathema Blog → Storage & cache → Clear storage) or by uninstalling the app. If you have turned on device backup, Android may include this data in your Google account backup, according to Google's settings and policies.
4. Data sent when you use the app
4.1 Articles and images
Articles are read from the blog database, run on Supabase (Supabase, Inc.), and images from our website anathema-studio.com or from Supabase storage. The requests carry no data that identifies you (no account, no device or advertising identifier) but, like any request on the internet, they disclose to the servers the IP address, date and time and technical information such as the type of system browser (User-Agent). This data may appear in the providers' technical logs and we use it only to run the service, protect it from abuse and fix errors.
Some articles may contain images hosted on other websites: to show them, the phone requests them directly from those websites, which receive the same technical information.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in providing the service you chose to use and keeping it secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4.2 Links, website and sharing
Links to our website and to external websites open in the phone's browser (a Chrome Custom Tab or your default browser): from then on, the privacy policies of the opened website and of the browser apply. If you share an article, the link is handed to the app you pick in the Android share menu, under that app's own policies.
4.3 Google Play statistics
In Play Console, Google Play gives us aggregated statistics on installs, crashes and freezes of the app (Android vitals), with technical information such as device model and Android version, which do not allow us to identify you. We use them to fix bugs and improve the app (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Google processes this data as an independent controller, under the Google privacy policy.
4.4 If you write to us
If you contact us by e-mail we process your address and the content of your message to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep the correspondence for up to 24 months after the request is closed, unless the law requires otherwise.
4.5 What we do not do
- We do not use analytics, advertising or third-party SDKs to track how you use the app.
- We do not use the Android advertising ID, we do not sell or share data for advertising and we do not profile you.
- We do not access location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or files on the phone, and we do not send notifications.
5. Recipients and transfers outside the EU
The technical information described in section 4 is processed:
- by Supabase, Inc., as our processor (Art. 28 GDPR) under its data processing agreement, for the blog database and images;
- by the provider hosting the anathema-studio.com website, as our processor, for the website's images and pages;
- by Google, as an independent controller, for the Google Play services.
Supabase and Google may also process data in the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area, with the safeguards required by the GDPR (standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission and, where applicable, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework). We may disclose data to authorities when required by law.
6. How long
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Language, copy of the articles and saved articles (on the phone) | Until you delete them in the app, clear the app's data or uninstall it |
| Website technical logs | At most 30 days |
| Supabase technical logs | For the provider's log retention period, at most 90 days |
| Google Play statistics | As stated by Google |
| Support e-mails | Up to 24 months after the request is closed |
7. Your rights
You have the right to request access to your data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Arts. 15–21 GDPR). Since the app has no accounts, you control the data on your phone (section 3); for technical logs, write to info@anathema-studio.com with the date, approximate time and IP address so that we can find them. We reply within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, garanteprivacy.it) or with the supervisory authority of the country where you live or work.
8. Children
The app is not specifically directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, children included: it asks for no data and has no accounts, chat or user-generated content.
9. Changes
If the app changes the way it processes data, we will update this page and the date at the top before publishing the new version. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the release notes on Google Play.
